Responsibilities
- Conducting Ground Safety Review Panel (GSRP) reviews for Partner activities associated with aerospace vehicle build and testing activities occurring in a multi-partner facility
- Writing instructions for filling out both the process confidence and hardware/software type Risk-Based Assessment (RBA) templates; write desk instruction for the overall RBA process; and help develop documentation and analytics framework (used to document and assess various types of insight/oversight, KPIs and dashboards)
- Apply a structured safety review process for safety deliverables and operational procedures submitted to ensure:“`{=html}“
- Hazards are identified and mitigated to within a partner’s designated footprint within the SSPF
- Safety Verification Tracking Logs are maintained to ensure open verifications are closed prior to hazard/system exposure to personnel
- Controls are sufficient to mitigate risk to the SSPF facility parameters and other partner critical hardware, i.e. operations are appropriate for a clean room
- Identification of oxygen deficient atmospheres/confined spaces.“`{=html}“
- Participate in and present technical content during ISS technical forums such as the ISS Technical Director’s Forum and/or ISS Director’s Review Board to assess and illustrate operational risks associated with partner activities
- Perform operations safety walkdowns and maintain insight to the performance safety requirements being implemented during partner operations
- Ensure compliance to existing KSC Safety and Institutional requirements for performing work in a NASA facility, as well as applicable payload safety requirements
- Responsible for assessing the safety of ground processing activities and requirements related to:“`{=html}“
- EGSE power systems
- Pressure systems design and testing with pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Flight vehicle COPV design and testing requirements
- Radio Frequency transmitter design and testing requirements and associated hazards
- Space vehicle battery charging design and control requirements
- MGSE/Lifting/Handling equipment design and operational control requirements
- Ordnance and propulsion system safety design requirements
- Electrical grounding and bonding for flight vehicles, work stands, MGSE, PGSE, and lifting of vehicles with ordnance/propulsion systems
- Mishap Reporting and Investigations for purposes of root cause and corrective action implementation.
