As a system operations engineer for Georgia System OperationsCorporation (GSOC), you will support the GSOC System Control Center(SCC) by providing expertise in the following areas: Provideengineering and application support to the GSOC transmission systemoperators. Ensure one-line diagrams are accurate and substationoperating instructions are up to date. Analyze forced outages andsignificant events. Create and/or modify GSOC policies, guidelines,and procedures to support the

GSOC SCC.

You will coordinate withvarious departments in GSOC and Georgia Transmission Corporation(GTC) on: System operator training Outage and operating conditionsSCADA alarm Issues Equipment mis-operations Metering issues RTUend-to-end testing Depending on seniority level, you will beexpected to provide technical recommendations and detailedpresentations on Integrated Transmission System (ITS) operations,switching issues, and SCADA requirements to all levels of GSOC andother business partners. The successful engineer will learn andunderstand engineering standards, NERC Reliability Standards, andsecurity standards of the Integrated Transmission System ofGeorgia.

Required Qualifications:
Education:

Bachelor of ScienceDegree in Engineering or related field

Experience:
Engineer I:

0-2years of engineering experience in transmission control roomoperations in an electric utility or in an engineering positionperforming planning, design, protection & controls, or projectmanagement for transmission or distribution systems.

Engineer II:

3-5 years of engineering experience in transmission control roomoperations in an electric utility or in an engineering positionperforming planning, design, protection & controls, or projectmanagement for transmission or distribution systems.

SeniorEngineer :

6-9 years engineering experience in transmission controlroom operations in an electric utility or in an engineeringposition performing planning, design, protection & controls, orproject management for transmission or distribution systems. Shouldbe knowledgeable in most of the following areas: ECS networkmodeling and applications, NERC standards relating to transmissionplanning and operation, switching practices, substation designpractices, system protection and control, project managementpractices, SCADA systems. Licenses, Certifications, and/or

Registrations:

EIT, PE, or NCSO certification desired but notrequired. Must obtain and maintain Bulk Electric System CyberAuthorized Status as defined in GSOC’s CIP Cyber Security Policy301 and NERC Reliability Standard CIP 004 – Personnel RiskAssessment.

Specialized Skills:

Knowledge of TransmissionOperations and Planning with specific background in four or more ofthe following areas: transmission switching, distributionsubstation switching, substation maintenance, substation protectiverelay operation, settings, and testing, load flow analysis,reliability reporting, system event/outage analysis. Must beproficient in PC spreadsheet and database applications. Experiencewith utility energy management systems desired. Excellentoral/written communication skills and effectivespeaking/presentation abilities.
