Power Systems Engineer Job Description We are seeking a Power Systems Engineer to perform short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies across various facilities including commercial, industrial, educational, healthcare, and generation sites. This role involves utilizing SKM, ETAP, and/or Easypower software, applying knowledge of low and medium voltage switchgear, motor control centers, circuit breakers, panel boards, and disconnects to determine cost-effective mitigation solutions based on power system studies results. Responsibilities Conduct short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies using SKM, ETAP, and/or Easypower software. Apply knowledge of low and medium voltage switchgear, motor control centers, circuit breakers, panel boards, and disconnects to develop mitigation solutions. Develop study reports and communicate findings and recommendations to customers. Perform data collection activities and develop or implement arc flash mitigation designs. Interpret new construction drawing packages and develop relay protective setpoints and settings files. Update equipment control schematics, one-line, three-line, and wiring diagrams. Successfully execute small to medium-sized projects with limited oversight. Self-manage assigned projects ensuring job cost accountability and adherence to budget estimates. Coordinate activities effectively with other departments and customers. Essential Skills Extensive experience in power system studies including Arc Flash, Load Flow, Short Circuit studies. Proficiency in SKM and/or ETAP software. Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited institution. Minimum of 8 years of experience in performing relevant power system studies. Professional Engineer (PE) strongly preferred, or at least passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam with willingness to get licensed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Ability to work independently with accuracy and high attention to detail. Strong communication skills to discuss technical recommendations effectively with customers. Experience supporting commercial or industrial facilities. Work Environment The role is primarily based in-office with minimal travel requirements (10%). The schedule consists of four 9-hour shifts from Monday to Thursday and a half-day on Friday, with flexibility on start and stop times. Reporting structure may vary based on candidate experience.
