Chapel Hill, NC Contract:
12 months Job Description Possess a strong understanding of electrical protection principles for utility electrical systems operating at 12 kV or higher. Familiarity with Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) relays is preferred. Capable of reading and interpreting engineering drawings. Willingness and ability to quickly learn new concepts, particularly within the electric power field. Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks effectively and meet project deadlines. Proven experience collaborating on projects in various campus environments and working with diverse groups of professionals. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to use these tools to develop clear reports and impactful presentations.
Education and Experience Requirements Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline relevant to the assigned role, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. All degrees must be from accredited institutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with utility electrical systems. Successful completion of the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and possession of Engineer-in-Training (EIT) credentials. Prior experience with underground electrical systems, particularly in a municipal setting, is highly desirable.
