Job Description
Overview Under the general supervision of the Section Manager, participates in providing: system engineering, database and display administration of the Energy Management System (EMS) to effectively support the bulk power and distribution system operators during normal and contingency operations. Will independently configure and support advanced EMS application tools (e.g. State Estimator/Contingency Analysis, GDC, Inter Control Center Protocol (ICCP), etc.). Employee will ensure initial and ongoing compliance with company policies and NERC regulatory standards. Will support the metering reconciliation and loss of EMS support processes. Employee will develop, review, and revise operating instructions and procedures applicable to all cyber assets and EMS technology work performed in support of the Control Center. Responsibilities Core Responsibilities Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in power engineering application software (e.g., TSM, State Estimator/Contingency Analysis, GDC) and advanced applications (e.g., ICCP) used in Control Center Operations. Configure and maintain the SCADA database and displays, assisting field personnel with the checkout and repair of remote SCADA monitoring, control, and metering equipment. Develop and coordinate data sharing plans based on the requirements of Engineering, IT, other corporate departments, systems, and external stakeholders. Maintain and monitor compliance with NERC Reliability, CIP, and other Cyber Security Standards, including patch management of EMS Systems, external notifications and updates per
NERC O&P
standards, and maintaining the health and uptime of EMS and advanced applications. Support the periodic review and enhancement of energy management system applications, utilizing hardware and software diagnostics to identify and repair computer operating problems, and maintaining Control Center’s computer equipment. Develop and maintain documentation, instructions, and procedures for in-house developed applications and Control Center operations, ensuring compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements, and maintaining appropriate certifications. Supports ECC standby rotation schedule and 24/7 coverage requirements Qualifications Required Education/Experience Bachelor’s Degree Engineering, Computer Science, equivalent technical curriculum and minimum of 10 years of engineering work experience is required or Master’s Degree Engineering, Computer Science, equivalent technical curriculum and minimum of 8 years of engineering work experience is required Relevant Work Experience Technical business experience, preferably in engineering, information technology, or cyber security, required. Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills, required. Work well in team situations, be willing and able to lead and participate in cross-functional teams and the ability to effectively interact with customers, support staff, and various levels of management, required. Knowledge of Energy Management System applications and state estimation is required. Working knowledge of the ORU bulk power system is desired. Knowledge of operating systems, LINUX and/or MS OS preferred. Technical writing skills preferred.

License Preferrederred Preferred Additional Physical Demands The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays. Must be able and willing to travel to and within the Corporate service territory and for occasional out-of-area business meetings/conferences.
