Ideal candidate must be able to produce deliverables associated with substation Protection & Control (P&C) design projects. This will include single line diagrams, three line diagrams, panel layouts, AC & DC schematics, equipment and switchboard wiring diagrams, bills of material, vendor drawings, and logic diagrams using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation software. We prefer an Electrical Engineer with a background in either substation protective relaying or power plant instrumentation & control design. Ideal candidate must possess the necessary skills and be able to lead design efforts on projects that entail the engineering design associated with medium and high voltage substation relay replacements/retrofits and new installations. Candidate must also possess the requisite experience to be able to complete projects from start to finish with minimal input/guidance from senior level engineers. This position requires additional responsibilities such as training, mentoring, and budget/schedule monitoring. Desired attributes/skills of an ideal candidate include but are not limited to: Must be able to complete projects within budget, on time per the schedule requirements, and with a high degree of quality to meet Mesa and client expectations. Excellent communication skills with both the customer and coworkers. Ability to communicate across multiple design disciplines. Assist Project Managers with generation of scope document, budget, and schedules. Experience in relay settings, calculations and/or field testing and commissioning is a plus. Experience with SEL, GE, Beckwith, Basler and ABB relays is a plus. Experience writing substation or electrical equipment specifications is a plus. Ability to interpret and apply IEEE, NERC/CIP, ANSI/NFPA and client standards. Ability to mentor and train entry-level protection engineers and designers.
