Substation Electric Engineer – Metering & Apparatus Job Description Carry out engineering planning, support, and technical innovation assignments and duties in accordance with the viewpoints, objectives, plans, and policies of the Engineering Department as related to MTE. Strive for maximum, efficient, and constant growth in engineering techniques and procedures. Promote good public and member relations by rendering prompt and efficient engineering service that will further the objectives of MTE. Provide coordination and training of other engineers in the department. Cooperate and coordinate with other departments with the functions of the Engineering Department as may be applied to their particular situation. Stay updated with new products and techniques by reading available engineering and MTE publications and attending engineering meetings to exchange information. Responsibilities Strive for maximum, efficient, and constant growth in engineering techniques and procedures. Promote good public and member relations by rendering prompt and efficient engineering service. Provide coordination and training of other engineers in the department. Cooperate and coordinate with other departments as may be applied to their particular situation. Stay updated with new products and techniques by reading engineering and MTE publications. Attend engineering meetings to exchange information. Essential Skills Knowledge of wiring schematics, circuit loading, line recloser replacement, metering, and electrical design. Proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical. Experience with OSI and Substation. Ability to assist and/or contribute to the design, development, and testing of electrical equipment, components, or systems. Familiarity with and application of mathematical and engineering principles and methods to perform electrical system designs. Ability to work directly with sr. engineers to develop new designs and solutions. Support to more experienced engineers. Exposure to more complex tasks within the job function. Fundamental Awareness (basic knowledge) to Novice (limited experience) skillset related to job responsibilities. Experience with failure analysis. Additional Skills & Qualifications 0-5 years of related experience. Four-year degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college. Substation design experience preferred.
