Description
Hinckley Yachts has been building and servicing America’s finest yachts since 1928. Our team is Trenton, ME is currently seeking a product engineer to join their dynamic team. This position is responsible for guiding the execution of complex engineering systems through all stages of development from concept and design through engineering and production, which will allow The Hinckley Company to consistently produce competitive, well-integrated and well-engineered products with a focus on the ultimate customer experience.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Design and develop new yacht models, custom options, product upgrades and manufacturing processes in a team environment.
Generate design specifications and cost estimates. Work closely with suppliers and outside engineering teams. Define requirements and component specifications for composite parts, marine systems electronics, and joinery. Generate engineering drawings and Bills of Manufacturing for new designs and approve prints for release to the shop floor.
Follow up with revisions as required.
- Run reports to monitor the accuracy Bills of Manufacturing and update as required.
Monitors fabrication and installation to ensure products and systems conform to engineering and design intent. Maintains awareness of applicable emerging technologies and manages the integration of innovative concepts into products.
Evaluates performance of products during sea trials. Test, validate, and oversee integration of externally supplied systems and materials.
- Ensure and/or acquire components and system compliance with industry standards (ABYC and ISO). Review and approve owners’ manuals.
- Conduct FEA, FMEA and DFM analyses, as required.
- Use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
Requirements
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering Minimum five (5) years’ experience in the marine industry Composites systems experience. Quick learner, ability to adapt to changing work environment, ability to handle multiple priorities, detail oriented, positive attitude, self-starter, ability to work independently and under pressure with minimal direction or supervision. Appreciation of our product legacy Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of the organization.
CAD experience is essential:
Rhino, Solid Edge and AutoCAD. Proficient in Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word and Excel Salary Description
