About this role We have a high visibility opportunity for a Senior Hardware Engineer for our Kidde Business Unit in Mebane, NC. or can be based at our Florida site.
The successful candidate must possess a strong electronics engineering background, product development and technical leadership competencies to successfully support the Residential Fire Suppression and Signaling life safety product lines. This position is based in Mebane, NC, and will report to the Senior Engineering Manager. In this role you will performs engineering work and applied research, coordinates activities involving the design and development of electronic equipment and devices, and prepares engineering sketches and product information documentation. Key Responsibilities
Design embedded electronics using rigorous design techniques to be used in life safety product lines Simulate, prototype and test implemented design according to product requirements Lead design review, FMEA and work with suppliers for prototyping, testing up to approval and start of production Develop solutions through the complete product lifecycle, from initial requirements to design, implementation, test, deployment, sustaining & end-of-life stages
Partner with Operations to ensure deliverables integrate into their systems within the overall product release schedule
Coordinates and facilitates the design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of electronic apparatus, components, or circuitry for use in electronic equipment and devices, ensuing work is completed on time and established quality and budgets are achieved.
Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems and networks to ensure that business objectives and required specifications are met.
Prepares engineering sketches or specifications to construct, relocate, or install equipment, facilities, products, or systems.
Prepares documentation including confidential descriptions or specifications of proprietary hardware or software, information on product development, introduction schedules, product costs, and performance weaknesses to track progress and analyze performance.
Performs engineering work and applied research, development, and design of new products to ensure quality standards and business objectives are met.
Travel required up to 10% – both domestically and internationally
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering 4+ years of experience in product development

partners Experience with lab equipment: digital multimeter, spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, power supply, data logger, etc. Experience with prototype build-up, debugging, functional and performance analysis Experience in circuit board level design Knowledgeable working with regulatory agencies and standards including but not limited to UL and NFPA. communication, negotiating, and influencing skills to communicate technical issues across functions. Demonstrated experience applying DfSS principles to product design. Proficient in Microsoft O365, including Excel, PowerPoint, & OneNote Proficient with PLM and Engineering Change Management tools and processes.
