About the Role The Sustainment Engineer Level 1 will be responsible for supporting AvL’s Sustainment team in maintaining standard products, ensuring their continued performance and support throughout their lifecycle. They work closely with the team leader and others to create and maintain product documentation, address customization requests, and collaborate with various departments to achieve desired goals. Responsibilities Support the Sustainment team’s mission to: Maintain AvL’s standard products, ensuring they are ready-to-sale with little to no engineering required at the time of sale Create and maintain a catalog of standard products and options, including interface control drawings (ICDs), assembly drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs) Collaborate with marketing, sales, business development, and technical writing teams to develop supporting documentation such as brochures, datasheets, operation, maintenance manuals (O&Ms), and quick start guides Collaborate with the Manufacturing team to address any issues related to availability, end-of-life (EOL), manufacturability, vendors, or other concerns Collaborate with other engineers as needed to address mechanical, electrical, electronic, and software issues. Handle small customization requests for AvL’s standard products, estimating the effort required and coordinating with sales and programs to schedule the job within engineering Other duties as assigned Qualifications Minimum 2 yr. degree/certificate in Engineering or similar technical field with experience in manufacturing or equivalent total of experience Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks and Draftsight Required Skills Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills Ability to work effectively with other departments to achieve desired goals Strong engineering and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and remedy a variety of issues Able to understand processes, such as new order, manufacturing, and engineering change notification (ECN) Knowledge or ability to understand AvL’s products and their specifications Ability to communicate well verbally and in written word/email Understanding of ERP systems, Visual is preferred Work authorization/security clearance requirements To comply with U.S. Export Control laws and regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to receive the required export authorization from the relevant U.S. regulatory Agency.
