Responsibilities
Collaborates with fellow engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand the requirements and scope of the robotics project.
Identify the automation needs and solution for the plant based on current capability and capacity and the future programs with automation technology required to meet the increased capability and capacity.
Develop programs for robotic and automation processes to support the manufacturing process
Provides technical support and troubleshooting services for robotic systems
Lead a team of robotics technicians in daily troubleshooting activities
Assist with continued development and management of robotics apprenticeship program
Ensures that robotic machines operate safely, dependably, and with precision; identifies and implements modifications
Apply sound ergonomic and safety practices in all functions of manufacturing process, equipment, and facilities.
Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods using data collection, analytical analysis, and experience.
Evaluate Technologies and Processes in support of improving Manufacturing Efficiencies, Productivity, Cost Saving, and/or Product Quality.
Develop Capital Cost Justification for Product Tooling, Equipment, Cost Savings Initiatives, etc.
Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
Understand and implement Lean Manufacturing Principles such as Continuous Improvement, Blitzes, KanBan, Line Balancing, TPM, Takt time, etc.
Work closely in a team environment with engineers, supervisors and manufacturing personnel and promote company principles
Work closely with maintenance personnel in troubleshooting problems as needed and equipment installation and set-up
Participate in factory and site acceptance testing for new capital robotics and automation equipment
Other duties as assigned by Manager in support of Manufacturing Operations
Qualifications
Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in related field with a minimum of 3 to 5 years’ work experience in robotics and/or automation space.
Experience with Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and other Continuous Improvement Methodologies
Proficient with SolidWorks and AutoCAD
Ability to write reports, business correspondences, and procedure manuals
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
