General Description
JOIN OUR TEAM AS A SURVEYING AND MAPPING TECHNICIAN
- PLAT REVIEW!
The role of Survey and Mapping Technician - Plat Review involves accessing subdivision plat submittals in Accela, coordinating with the Plat Review Tech. and Lead SAM Tech
- Plat Review, determines if Plat submittal meets requirements.
Sets the plat map and all related documents up for review. Essential Job Functions Reviews and analyzes submitted subdivision plats for: spelling, basic drafting standards, basic geometry & calculations, basic Professional Surveying and Mapping principles, adherence to Ch. 177 Florida Statutes, adherence to Pasco Land Development Code (LDC) requirements for Platting and Development, (i.e., Ch. 700, Vision Roads/Comp Plan, Legal Access issues, etc), comparative analysis to adjacent plats, approved construction plans, and recorded documents. Reviews Plat Dedication Language.
Basic review of:
Plat Performance Bonds, Joinder and Consent forms, Required Improvements Agreement Forms (RIA’s), Engineer’s Estimate,Final Certificate of Capacity, Risk Approval, and all other plat related documents. Coordinates with multiple other departments on their plat reviews. Compiles all reviews and comments. Assists Plat Review Team in sending out comments back to applicants. Re-review when subsequent round submittals arrive (third or fourth round as needed). When the SAM/G review is complete and all other Dept.
comments have been addressed:
Creates requests for legal services (RLS), coordinates with all others in Plat Review Team then prepares the Agenda Memo for the earliest BOCC date available, prepares the Plats and all related documents for further review by the County Surveyor (or designee) in CivicClerk, coordinates with the County Attorney and his office (CAO) for the final CAO review and acceptance.
Once the authorization for applicant to produce Mylars has been received from the
CAO:
Notification to the applicant, prepare for County Surveyor’s signature and seal, ensure the executed mylars get to the Clerk’s Office for selected BOCC meeting. Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects.
Performs duties of Surveying and Mapping Tech (SAM Tech) if required. Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects.
Performs related work as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to navigate and use Accela, CivicClerk, and ProLaw proficiently. Knowledge of Surveying mathematics including geometry and trigonometry.
Ability to create a Pasco County BOCC Board Agenda Memo.
Knowledge of drafting and Surveying principles.
Entry level proficiency with the use of AutoCAD and coordinate geometry software.
Ability to review and analyze submitted subdivision Plats for correctness in Adobe PDF format or .DWG format (AutoCADD), Knowledge of basic geometry, basic Professional Surveying and Mapping principles.
Knowledge of Ch. 177 Florida Statutes.
Knowledge of Pasco Land Development Code (LDC) requirements for Platting and Development, i.e., Ch. 700, Vision Roads/Comp Plan, Legal Access issues. Ability to read and understand Plat Dedication Language, basic review of Plat Performance Bonds, understanding of Joinder and Consent forms, Required Improvements Forms (RIA’s), Engineer’s Estimate, Final Certificate of Capacity, Risk Approval, and all other plat related documents. Ability to operate a computer, proficient with Windows, MS Teams, Adobe Acrobat, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, Accela, CivicClerk, and more. Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. Minimum Requirements
PHYSICAL SKILLS/WORKING CONDITIONS
Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessively heavy objects. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication. Ability to work outdoors. Requires walking, stooping, and bending.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school, vocational school, or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. College level courses in surveying, engineering, geometry, or trigonometry preferred. Two (2) years of survey calculating experience which includes working with AutoCAD and a PC based COGO software.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license. Any Surveying based certifications would be a plus, i.e., CST, GIS-P, FAA Part 107 UAV Pilots Cert, etc.
