Role:
This position is responsible for the production of various types of land survey drawings and map substitutes from inception to completion with minimal supervision and direction.
What You Will Be Doing:
Prepare maps and drawings from survey field data. Maps and drawings include topographic maps, route surveys, boundary surveys, base maps, real estate exhibits, right-of-way control maps, site plans, as-builts, quantity surveys. Reduce field notes and check reductions and calculations made by others. Routinely perform typical coordinate geometry calculations such as intersections, curves, inverses, area calculations. Make adjustments to field calculations. Generate quantities of various materials. Prepare pre-calculations and assemble pertinent reference data for field crews to take to the field. Post process static GPS data. Incorporate conventional optical data, static GPS data and RTK GPS data into projects. Conducts quality control checks on compilation and performs QA/QC on deliverable products. Research field survey data, vertical control, certified corner records, geodetic controls points, appraisal maps and other sources to ensure survey work is compatible with adjacent properties and/or previous surveys. Makes vertical control surveys for aerial surveys; determines elevations for various surfaces. Establishes control for alignment and benchmarks; makes required line and elevation ties to existing centerlines and U.S.G.S. benchmarks.
What You Bring:
Graduate of an accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma. (required) Graduate of a two (2) year program in computer-aided drafting and design techniques from an accredited college or technical school an asset. (preferred) Minimum of 3-5 years of practical experience in surveying and mapping which includes the use of AutoCAD or similar computer-aided drafting software. (preferred) A valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable to our company insurance provider is a condition of initial and continued employment. (required) Ability to work in a safe manner and obey safety regulations at all times. Proficient with latest version of AutoCAD and other surveying software. Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Google Earth, Trimble business center, GIS and GPS. Extensive knowledge of survey and mapping principles, practices, standards, procedures and project management. Experience with Trimble data collection, GPS receivers and robotic total stations. Knowledge of and ability to perform complex mathematical computations. Considerable knowledge of county, state and local survey laws, ordinances and regulations. Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of photogrammetric mapping, LiDAR and other remote sensing. Considerable knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices and ability to read and interpret engineering plans. Skill in identifying discrepancies between drawings and specifications. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to solve advanced mathematical problems. Ability to read and interpret detailed surveying drawings, legal descriptions, deeds, construction plans and abstracts. Ability to travel as needed.
