Entry-Level Land Surveyor Job Description We are currently seeking hard-working and career-driven individuals to join our survey crews. The primary responsibility of this role is to assist the Crew Chief in completing the crew’s assigned field survey tasks. Responsibilities Transmit survey data to proper files in the computer network and acquire data for field use. Accurately and efficiently clear line, establish points, tape, chain, and level for field survey projects as assigned by the Crew Chief. Keep the crew’s assigned vehicle clean, properly maintained, and stocked with necessary equipment and supplies as instructed by the Crew Chief. Report any mechanical or safety-related problems to the Crew Chief. Load for transportation, clean, and store field surveying equipment used by the crew. Communicate and coordinate effectively with other crew members to facilitate the timely and accurate completion of assigned projects. Observe all safety guidelines and procedures, particularly when working around traffic or on active construction sites. Accurately identify various types of trees encountered while performing field survey work. Assist in the training of entry-level rodmen as requested. Cut and clear brush and trees from the line of survey. Stand, walk, use hands, tools, controls, reach with arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, as well as lift and/or move up to 50-75 pounds. When supporting SUE work, perform heavy labor including using a jackhammer, digging, setting up the site, operating a vacuum truck, and site clean-up. Essential Skills High school education or GED. Must be able and willing to perform heavy labor. Ability to work outside in extreme heat and weather. Valid driver’s license and ability to pass an MVR check. Ability to lift 50 lbs or more. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in construction, labor, landscaping, manual labor. Ability to learn surveying. Experience working outside in Florida elements. Previous utility locating or survey experience is a plus. Work Environment You will be part of a 2-3 man crew working outdoors in extreme Florida weather conditions. Working hours are from 6am, reporting to the office, and then traveling to the site until about 4-5pm. Overtime is required and paid at 1.5x. Plenty of breaks are provided. The job requires out-of-town work with potential overnights from Monday to Thursday, returning on Friday. Lodging and per diem are provided. Travel may range within a 2-hour window, sometimes extending as far as Pensacola. The role offers job stability, cutting-edge technology, and a significant backlog of work.
