Distribution Designer Job Description We are seeking a Distribution Designer to join our team. The role involves both field data collection and office work to support bringing feeders up to Storm Spec. The position is based out of the Eastern Service Area office and will initially require full-time office attendance, with potential flexibility to work from home 1-2 days a week once established. Company vehicles will be provided for field work. Responsibilities Conduct field data collection for 2-3 days a week and perform office work for the remaining days. Process work requests in the WMS, dividing jobs into work phases and establishing the person for each construction phase. Perform technical analysis and calculations to determine economical and reliable solutions for customers and the distribution system. Estimate electrical loads for customers with less than 50 kW demand and model conditions using appropriate software applications. Utilize GIS to draw proposed and existing electrical features, ensuring correct specifications and resolving any identified errors. Produce and oversee the production of construction prints for Field Construction, Operations, and contractors. Verify financial data in WMS related to construction and maintenance activities for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Essential Skills Distribution design experience Experience with underground and overhead power distribution Proficiency with Gtech, WMS, BOUD, Design Manager, Microstation, and Autocad Knowledge of GIS, electrical and utility design, and civil engineering Familiarity with electrical design and distribution engineering Experience with STORMS Additional Skills & Qualifications Minimum of two years of related work experience in work order management, CAD drafting, and GIS mapping One year of direct work experience as a Distribution Design Field Inspector, lineworker, or electrician A relevant college degree may substitute for equivalent experience Preferred experience as a Service Area Coordinator, GIS Technician, Distribution Design Field Inspector, or lineworker Work Environment The role requires 100% office attendance initially, with potential to work from home 1-2 days a week after getting established. The work involves 2-3 days a week of field data collection and the remaining days of office/computer work. Company vehicles will be used for fieldwork.
