Structural Steel Surveyor/Metrologist Position Available In Hillsborough, Florida

Structural Steel Surveyor/Metrologist Zentech Consulting Gibsonton, FL 33534 The Steel Fabrication Surveyor (also referred to internally as a Metrology Technician ) is responsible for measuring and verifying steel assemblies on the shop floor using laser metrology equipment. This role supports precision fabrication processes by ensuring that all assemblies meet dimensional requirements according to drawings and specifications. While this is similar to a surveyor role, it specifically focuses on in-shop measurement, not field layout. This position is ideal for candidates who are hands-on, detail-oriented , and prefer working on the shop floor rather than in an office . Full metrology pay will be granted after training.

Key Responsibilities:

Use laser measuring equipment to inspect fabricated components on the shop floor Review and interpret complex blueprint and fabrication drawings Document measurement data and assist in resolving dimensional discrepancies Collaborate with production, quality, and supervision teams to verify compliance with specifications Follow safety procedures and quality standards consistently Participate in initial and ongoing training programs Maintain tools, equipment, and workspace in accordance with company guidelines

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required Experience with 3D AutoCAD and blueprint reading is highly preferred Background in steel fabrication, quality inspection, or surveying a plus Comfortable working on the shop floor in an industrial environment Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurement Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
