Full Job Description About Us:

We are a growing, multidisciplinary firm that recently expanded through the acquisition of a civil engineering company. As part of our strategic growth plan, we are establishing a Surveying Department to complement our existing capabilities. This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a seasoned Survey Professional to build and lead a department from the ground up, with the full support of executive leadership.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Survey Department Manager who will take full ownership of launching and managing the new Surveying Division. This individual will be responsible for shaping department structure, hiring and mentoring staff, implementing best practices, and serving as a key technical and strategic leader within the organization.

Responsibilities:

Establish and lead a new Surveying Department, including strategy, operations, and staffing Oversee a variety of survey projects, including boundary, topographic, construction layout, ALTA/NSPS, and utility surveys Serve as the technical expert and signing Professional Land Surveyor. Collaborate with civil engineering teams to integrate surveying services across projects Develop workflows and standards for field and office operations (CAD standards, data collection, QA/QC) Hire, train, and manage field crews and office staff as needed Interface with clients, subcontractors, and public agencies Manage department budgets, schedules, and resources Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal surveying regulations

Qualifications:

10+ years of progressive land surveying experience Strong leadership or management background Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or ability to obtain licensure in Florida Proficiency with surveying technologies (e.g., GPS, Total Stations, 3D Scanning, Civil 3D, TBC) Strong understanding of construction, boundary, and topographic surveys Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to lead and scale a team Excellent communication and organizational skills
