Job Description

⚐ ⚑ ⚑ Experienced Survey Crew Chief (254 E. 6th Ave., Suite 102) Optimal Surveying & Mapping, Inc. 254 E 6th Ave. Suite 102  compensation: $32-$45 per hour depending on level of experience employment type: experience level: senior level job title: Survey Crew Chief Optimal Surveying & Mapping, Inc. (OSM), fka O’Neal Surveying & Mapping, Inc. currently has an opening for Survey Crew Chief for their Tallahassee office. This position requires a minimum of 3-4 years as Crew Chief. OSM offers competitive pay, and benefits. These include 100% company paid Health, Dental and Vision Insurance. Coverage begins after a probationary period of 60 days of full-time employment. In addition, this position will include 80 hours paid PTO and 7 paid holidays per year. Full-Time employees receive bonuses at least once a year. OSM strives to work a 4-day work week, 10-hour workdays, whenever possible. Weather or scheduling will occasionally require working 5 days or more, but this is the exception. Our work week is primarily Monday through Thursday.

This Position Requires:
  • Perform design survey in support of engineering projects. Experience should include but is not limited to: establish horizontal and vertical control, LiDAR, as-built surveys, construction stakeout, boundary surveys, topographic, Mean High Water, tree, hydrographic, wetland surveys and transportation/route surveys.
  • Ability to use both Conventional and Global Positioning System (GPS) methods.
  • Instruct your crew in proper methods of use and maintenance of survey equipment.
  • Ability to operate equipment accurately/efficiently to acquire necessary data. Trimble Access is a PLUS.
  • Provide complete and accurate field notes.
  • FDOT experience is highly desired.
  • Ability to work well with others.
Additionally:
  • Ability to pass FAA background check/fingerprinting.
  • CST Certification a plus.
  • A High School diploma or GED is required for this position.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license with approved/acceptable driving history required for this position.
  • Required to travel overnight 3 or more nights a week, when needed.
  • Overtime will be required on occasion, to meet schedules.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and carry equipment.
  • Ability to access remote locations in wildlife management areas
  • Good leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow directions from Supervisors and provide positive feedback.
