 Full Time Position Overview The Survey Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining methods for safe, accurate, and efficient survey operations. This role involves managing and coordinating surveying procedures and processes for assigned projects, survey employees, and survey subcontractors to ensure projects are surveyed correctly and meet or exceed project requirements. Most of the Survey Manager’s time is spent overseeing survey operations to ensure they are conducted effectively and safely. District Overview Kiewit’s Southeast District specializes in heavy civil, transportation and water resource markets, and has played a significant role in building infrastructure throughout the fast-growing southeastern United States. Since the 1970s, we have built projects from Maryland to Florida and west to Louisiana. Our operations include highways, airports, mass transit, tunnels, water and wastewater facilities, dams and infrastructure work

Location Location:

 Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Travel Requirements:

 This position requires travel to projects in Southwest Florida and other locations south of Lake Okeechobee.
Responsibilities Manages staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs and ensures that project and department milestones and goals are met while adhering to approved budgets.
Responsibilities over contractual requirements, design model review, staff training, and field survey operations, including time spent in the field observing and instructing survey operations.
Involved in establishing and maintaining methods for safe, accurate, and efficient survey field operations, with the majority of time spent in the field performing survey operations.
Has gained full proficiency in a broad range of activities related to the job and independently performs a wide range of complex duties under general guidance from supervisors.
Considered a subject matter expert in the field of surveying, including current technical tools.
May lead and direct the work of others or lead project teams within their specialty area.

Contractual Requirements:

Includes knowing the PLS requirements for the project, what specific surveys are required for the design, as-built, monumentation, and layout.

Design Model Review:

Conducted to ensure the accuracy of the files before being used for survey field calculations. Coordinate with the designer the file types required for survey operations.
Establish regular meetings with the designer to review and plan for design survey requests and design model file progression.

Field Survey Operations:

Staffing of the survey department along with personnel and equipment schedules.
Establish a project survey plan and outline specific field and office procedures.
Oversee the operation with periodic reviews of record keeping, field procedures, and survey audits to ensure that all work is performed in an efficient and professional manner.
Maintain the official set of plans for the survey department.
Provide weekly staff training sessions to ensure a competent and qualified staff. Qualifications Must be willing to work 50-60 hours per week, including weekends.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Construction Survey, Dimensional Control, Industrial Measurement, or a related field.
Experience with Trimble equipment is a plus.
Proficiency in applying concepts of basic algebra and geometry to perform calculations (area, volume, circumference, proportion, percentage).
