Conyers, GA Position Summary:
The Surveyor is the Company’s subject-matter-expert in the field of wireless telecommunications surveying. The employee reports to the Senior Engineer.
Job Functions:
The individual will be very familiar with and enforce the Company’s policies and procedures. The employee will align his/her behavior and work attitude with the Company’s core values, vision, and mission. The Surveyor will receive assignments from his/her supervisor for daily / weekly assignments. The employee shall represent the Company with the highest degree of professionalism, at all times, to include general appearance, grooming, attitude and dress. Trained in basic path survey techniques with demonstrated skills using typical path survey equipment including, but not limited to, Trimble GPS equipment, compass, inclinometer, lasers and/or hypsometers, digital maps, obstruction height measurements, remote measurements, basic navigation, tower mapping and site surveys. Knowledge base will include familiarity with typical microwave antennas used in the industry and ability to recognize and reasonably identify typical antennas used in the communication industry. The employee shall be able to competently plan and execute a path survey given a predicted path profile, properly identifying critical points and other obstructions previously noted from satellite imagery that require field verification. The Surveyor will properly prepare and transmit the field data in the prescribed manner to the office for processing and analysis. The Surveyor will be using cameras and taking photographs of site towers and compounds to aid in the survey process. The incumbent should be able to draw field sketches to augment data that is submitted for analysis. Will be capable of performing fundamental processing of the data including, but not limited to, performing post-processing of the GPS data, importing data into Pathloss, correcting predicted obstruction data with observed field data, and generating a preliminary RF design for review by the RF Engineer. Travel with extended overnight stays is required and this may include weekends / holidays. Must be eligible to drive according to Company’s standards.
Job Requirements:
Educations:
Technical school or college degree is desirable.
Experience:
One-to
- two years’ experience in the telecommunications industry performing site surveys.
Military experience is highly preferred.
Qualifications:
The employee will demonstrate the aptitude conducive for using the Microsoft Office Suite products, to include Project and Visio. Must be able to work independently and within a team environment. Able to work within time constraints and meet deadlines, utilizing exceptional organizational abilities. Can work legally in the U.S. Must be present to perform work.
Preferred Skills:
The employee must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Shall possess the ability to make decisions and act on those decisions in a remote environment, ensuring accuracy in the assimilation of data collected. Must possess excellent conflict resolution skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to distinguish between colors, read printed material, lift/carry 70 pounds, climb ladders, able to kneel, stoop, crouch, or work in other uncomfortable positions to accomplish tasks. Must have good hand/eye coordination and be able to work with hand tools. Must be qualified to drive a company vehicle as well as possess safe driving skills.
