Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for an Independent Contractor (Liquid Cargo Surveyor) to work with our Agricultural Services team in New Orleans, LA. The Independent Contractor will be responsible for ensuring client instructions are carried out at agreed consignment locations, acting as an independent party to verify compliance with agreed processes and inspection and supervision procedures.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?
To be successful at Alfred H Knight you will need to display the following:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Read and interpret documents such as tank strap/calibration tables, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures manual, safety instructions etc.
Strong mathematical skills and knowledge of density and volume conversions.
Follow directions ensuring the end results are accurate and reported in a timely manner.
Working knowledge of MS office suite (primarily word and excel).
Work well with others and independently.
Maintain a professional and independent position for all assignments.
Effective communication skills with onsite and office based staff.
Must be detail oriented and have the ability to convey details through written reports and photographs.
Must be reliable and able to organise and operate independently (training will be provided).
Computer literate.
Positive attitude.
Required Work Experience
Previous liquid cargo surveying experience, preferably with liquid fertilizer and vegetable oil.
Experience in using measuring tape , sampling equipment and performing required calculations and corrections.
(Transportation Worker Identification Credentials allow access to US Ports) preferred. If working in a location where TWIC is required, candidates must be able to pass the background and security requirements.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required.
Must have a valid and clean Driving Licence.
Must have a working laptop and/or smartphone/ tablet.
Must have a personal vehicle suitable for transportation to assignments.
Travel / Rotation Requirements
Flexible working schedule between the hours of 6am – 6pm. On occasions there may be requirements to work past 6pm and/or weekends.
Willing to travel to remote inspection locations (in some cases up to 150 miles one way).
