Job Description

Sheffield Office with Regional Site Visits (Yorkshire & Nationwide) Full-Time | Salary (Negotiable) Car Allowance Holiday Package Established in 1997, Halfway Surfacing & Civil Engineering Ltd is a leading, civil engineering and surfacing contractor based in Sheffield. We operate across the UK, delivering a wide variety of projects including roadworks, groundwork packages, highways, and general civil engineering schemes. Due to continued growth, we are looking to welcome a Quantity Surveyor to our expanding team. This is an office-based role with regular site visits across Yorkshire and wider UK. Key Responsibilities Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities. Identify, analyze, and manage commercial risks. Assist in feasibility studies and understand client requirements. Advise on procurement strategy and assess tender costings. Examine tender documentation to ensure full understanding of scope and requirements. Allocate work to subcontractors and liaise with site teams to ensure accurate resource planning. Visit sites to survey works, take measurements, and collect valuation data. Prepare valuations for interim applications for payment, including variations. Prepare cost reports and manage budgets. Monitor and manage costs, preparing subcontractor payments and negotiating final accounts. Support the site team in documenting and recording completed works. Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and main contractor requirements. Ideal Candidate Profile Proven groundworks subcontracting experience, managing projects from inception to final account. Demonstrated experience as a Project Quantity Surveyor in civil engineering projects . Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and prior experience administering NEC subcontract agreements. Proficient in forecasting , budget control, and cost reporting. Advanced user of Microsoft Excel . Excellent organizational and communication skills. Full UK driving license.
