Survey Crew Chief Job Description Lead and manage a survey crew, ensuring accurate and timely completion of surveying tasks. Operate and maintain surveying equipment, including total stations and data collectors. Conduct and oversee surveying activities for large infrastructure projects, including roadway, utilities, and land development. Implement high-definition scanning techniques and processes as required. Coordinate with project managers and engineers to provide precise measurements and data. Train and mentor junior crew members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies on all projects. Assist in the preparation of survey reports and documentation. Responsibilities Lead and manage the survey crew to ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks. Coordinate with project managers and engineers to provide precise measurements and data. Train and mentor junior crew members to foster collaboration and productivity. Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies on all projects. Assist in the preparation of survey reports and documentation. Essential Skills Background with infrastructure projects. Minimum of 5 years of experience, which can include education. Familiarity with survey equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with tunnels, railroads, airport, and infrastructure projects. Survey license and survey degree preferred but not required. Proficiency in operating total stations, data collectors, and other surveying equipment. Familiarity with high-definition scanning techniques is preferred. Work Environment This position reports to Edison, NJ, with office check-ins required 1 to 2 days a week to connect with the team and exchange equipment. Traveling around South Jersey, typically an hour or two from the Edison office, is necessary, with compensation for mileage and tolls provided. The Crew Chief receives a company vehicle equipped with necessary tools. The work week is a standard 40 hours, although night work may occasionally be required for railroad projects due to safety concerns. LICA equipment is predominantly used, and understanding of equipment knowledge is essential.
