Engineering Tech I As an Engineering Tech I with John Deere Turf Care in Fuquay-Varina, NC, you will: Perform a wide range of tasks related to product verification and validation and advanced R D. Daily activities are assigned through work orders including test setup, instrumentation installation, building and troubleshooting prototype machines, building wiring harnesses, and fabricating of prototype parts. Job details are dependent on duties assigned but in general consist of the following: Perform prototype setup, testing and service (including equipment and hardware). Work with engineers to understand goal and data requirements of various test activities; determining specifications, test procedures, prints, schematics, diagrams, or CAD models as required to setup and run tests to meet specific requirements. Fabricate / weld brackets, hydraulic hoses, and test fixtures for performance evaluations using specialized equipment. Instrument test vehicles to collect various data points to support product development process. Perform all phases of wiring harness fabrication such as, but not limited to planning, cutting, splicing, stripping, crimping, lugging, tying, soldering, dipping, ultrasonic welding, assembling, functional/continuity testing and visual/dimensional inspections. Monitor ongoing tests to very all test parameters are within bounds. Perform scheduled maintenance on test vehicles to keep durability tests operating. Assist and support other team members and work with minimal supervision. Clean work area and perform other miscellaneous duties inherent to the job.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have at least one of the following: High School Diploma or G.E.D. National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) At least 3 years of manufacturing work experience 2+ years of related work experience; including: Ability to read blueprints and use handwritten specifications in coordination with precision measuring instruments, devices, or gauges to ensure parts are in conformance with standards. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Ability to use precision measuring equipment, such as micrometers, calipers, gauge blocks, meters, and digital protractors. Familiarity with a broad range of agricultural equipment. Experience troubleshooting gas and diesel engines. Experience diagnosing issues with mechanical and/or hydraulic systems. Experience with data acquisition equipment and general instrumentation including thermocouples, strain gauges, accelerometers, pressure sensors, etc. Experience with assembly and fabrication of parts / fixtures. Proficiency with various hand tools, portable tools, power tools and equipment necessary for completion of assembly, disassembly, troubleshooting and diagnostics of various prototype products (Mechanical/Electrical/Hydraulics/Pneumatics). Ability to operate a forklift. Ability to perform manual tasks related to described job duties for duration of work shift; including but not limited to frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting. Why Work at John Deere?
