Description
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Transportation team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in electrical design and analysis for roadway infrastructure projects, including roadway lighting, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), traffic signals, and electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities. Your Primary Responsibilities will include
Conduct voltage drop calculations
, load calculations
, and arc flash hazard analysis to ensure system reliability and compliance with safety standards.
Design electrical systems in compliance with NEC code requirements and other applicable standards.
Develop construction documents, including plans, specifications, and cost estimates, for transportation-related electrical systems.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support roadway lighting, ITS, traffic signal systems, and EV charging infrastructure projects.
Perform system evaluations and provide recommendations for design optimization and energy efficiency.
Interface with clients, utility companies, and contractors to coordinate project requirements and ensure successful project delivery.
Prepare technical reports, engineering studies, and documentation to support design decisions.
What you’ll need
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
.
Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain.
Knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including NEC, NESC, and local regulations.
Proficiency in engineering software such as
ETAP, SKM
PowerTools, AutoCAD, or MicroStation.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Experience:
Experience with roadway lighting, traffic signals, ITS, or EV charging facilities.
Familiarity with utility coordination and permitting processes.
Hands-on experience with short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies.
