Your Specific Responsibilities:

Assists in developing and publishing the Structures Manual. Assists in developing Structures Design Bulletins and posting to the Department’s website. Assists in managing the Structures Manual Task List on SharePoint to coordinate revisions. Participates in performing design tasks for in-house bridge design projects. Participates in special project studies that include analysis, design, and calculations. Reviews plans and design calculations for compliance with contract documents. Participates in various aspects of research projects including reviewing deliverables. Assists with developing and maintaining the Structures Design Office external website and internal SharePoint site using web-based software. Assists in performing Quality Assurance Reviews (QARs) of the Districts. The Successful Candidate will have the following required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Structures Manual, FDOT Design Manual, Standard Plans for Road and Bridge Construction, Basis of Estimates Manual, Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) Production Criteria Handbook; Knowledge of American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Load-and-Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) Bridge Design Specification, Standard Specification for Structural Supports for Highway Signs, Luminaires and Traffic Signals and Manual for Bridge Evaluation; Skilled in utilizing Microsoft Office Programs; Skilled in web-based programming and publishing software; Ability to utilize Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) software; Ability to solve engineering problems; Ability to read and interpret structures and roadway construction plans; Ability to effectively coordinate and communicate with others, verbally and in writing; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Minimum Qualifications:

A high school diploma or its equivalent and four years of continuous employment experience in the field of structural engineering. Post-secondary education can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required work experience.
