The Work You Will Do:

Drainage Engineer II, District 6/Design/Drainage
This position will contribute to the design and engineering of the state drainage and stormwater management systems, providing a safe and efficient system for all users of our state road facilities. It also includes reviewing reports and plans of proposed drainage and stormwater systems for our state and local roads.

Anticipated Pay:

$3,260.95 /biweekly
A Competitive Area Differential (CAD) additive in the amount of $4,222.40 will be added to the annual salary.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

Performs plans review for all phases of design, including reports and studies. Designs drainage and stormwater management systems relating to highway projects. Prepares calculations used to design drainage/stormwater management systems utilizing computer programs, such as Advanced Interconnected Pond Routing (ADICPR), Hydraulic Engineering Center’s River Analysis System (HEC-RAS), GEOPAK Drainage, PONDS, etcetera. Performs all duties associated with the complete assembly of drainage construction plans and specifications for assigned projects. Maintains thorough knowledge of design criteria, procedures, and engineering policies relative to plans production. Signs and seals engineering documents.
Assists the Florida Department of Transportation (Department) project managers with consultant selections, scope preparations, man hour negotiations, schedules, cost estimates and related items. Oversees a district wide drainage design contract requiring preparation of Task Work Orders, Scope of Services, invoice authorizations, consultant negotiations, budget management, and other miscellaneous duties. Performs duties as Engineer of Record and Project Manager for Department Work Program drainage projects.
Prepares Bridge Hydraulics Reports and Bridge Hydraulics Recommendation Sheets. Performs hydraulic studies and prepares hydraulic reports such as Location Hydraulic Reports and Pond Siting Reports for Project Development Studies and Design. Performs field reviews on projects to determine drainage areas and flow patterns and to establish highwater controls. Prepares drainage maps and determines drainage structure adequacy for meeting hydraulic and safety standards. Determines and sets right of way requirements for drainage.
Provides drainage and permitting related technical support to other Departments and design teams as needed. Coordinates drainage design with other agencies including counties, cities, or Water Management Districts. Serves as an expert witness for eminent domain cases. Provides technical guidance to staff in the Drainage Design unit.
The Successful Candidate will have the following required
