This position is responsible for collection and analysis of data for the preparation of road and highway designs. Will perform roadway and highway design calculations, conduct investigative analyses toward completion of assigned design tasks, and direct the preparation of design drawings and/or specifications. Job duties include roadway/surface design utilizing AASHTO and other applicable design specifications as well as state and local design requirements. Job duties also include working with professional engineers on transportation designs, assisting project managers on design review and permitting and evaluate proposed opportunities and advance proposal efforts on behalf of the company. Responsibilities Perform engineering tasks related to the planning and design of transportation facilities such as freeways, arterials, intersections, and/or drainage. Be part of a Design Team that produces plans, specifications, cost estimates and schedules for transportation construction projects. Duties include preparing engineering reports, performing engineering calculations and analysis and furnishing technical documentation for design projects. Assist or preferably lead the project management of projects both technically and financially to meet the clients’ expectations in completing quality projects on-time and on budget. Maintain organized documentation/archives of design files, drawings, and construction submittals. Work with or preferably lead the design team in completion of technical efforts of other team members in the completion of design projects including roadway, traffic, drainage projects and reports. Qualifications Familiarity with GDOT Plan preparation requirements for roadway projects. Experience with Microsoft Office Programs. Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. Must complete a pre-employment screening; ICE is a drug-free workplace. Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited program required. 0-5 years of experience required. EIT or ability to obtain EIT within 6 months of hire required. Experience with Open Roads Design. Work Environment & Physical Requirements This position predominantly involves up to 8 hours per day at a computer workstation, with occasional standing and walking. The employee may occasionally lift lightweight office supplies and materials, typically not exceeding 20 pounds. The office environment is indoors, characterized by controlled temperatures and minimal exposure to adverse conditions. Employees must have the ability to visually discern and differentiate details and colors of objects, and proficiency in recognizing sound, tone, and pitch. Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary. The role demands adaptability to interruptions and changes in workflow, as well as the capacity to sit for extended periods. Expected Hours of Work The ICE offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, allowing an unpaid hour for lunch daily. Work schedules may vary according to the project schedule.
