We are actively looking for a Coastal Engineer to join our Baton Rouge office on a part time basis providing high level technical support on our local projects. As part of the Coastal Group, the Senior Coastal Engineer will provide technical expertise on multiple projects for urban waterfront and coastal structures, including marinas, marine terminals, urban waterfront developments and cruise ship facilities; wetland restoration, dredging, shore protection structures, and flood walls.

Duties and responsibilities:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. Leads and designs projects by studying project concept, architectural drawings, and models
Leads and prepares engineering designs by collecting and studying reports, maps, drawings, aerial photographs, and tests on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and related topographical and geologic data
Leads the analysis of multiple project costs by calculating labor, material, and related costs
Creates multiple feasibility studies by analyzing engineering design, conducting environmental impact studies, and assembling data
Leads the development of multiple construction specifications, plans, and schedules to produce engineering documents
Researches and assists in complying with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; and advising management on needed actions
Successfully support ongoing Coastal / Water practice through contacts and business development efforts working with EPA, Army Corps of Engineers, NOAA, Local Environmental agencies, as well as private sector clients

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Coastal Engineering; required
Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Louisiana or the ability to obtain via reciprocity within 6 months of hire; required
20+years of experience as a coastal engineer; required
Experience working with clients such as CPRA, LADOTD, state, and local municipalities; required
All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with

NIST 800-171
