Stantec’s New England Transportation group is looking for a talented, team focused Transportation Engineer to join our practice in Portland, ME! Stantec’s has an immediate need for a Transportation Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of experience in roadway/highway design and pedestrian/bicycle facility design. Task management experience is a plus and more experienced individuals are encouraged to apply as there is flexibility in this position. This position is for an individual looking to challenge themselves on a variety of transportation projects in the region. What Will You Be Doing? As a Transportation Engineer, you will join a growing team of transportation professionals and play a lead role in the highway design component of large and small roadway and bridge projects throughout Maine and New England. Your Key Responsibilities + Design roadways in accordance with AASHTO and MaineDOT specifications and CADD Standards using Microstation and InRoads/OpenRoads. + Develop and oversee design plans and calculations, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates. + Prepare engineering reports and technical studies such as design memos, feasibility studies, and concept design reports. + Collaborate with team members, other disciplines and offices, and sub-consultants. + Perform field investigations and construction phase services support. + Interact with and present project designs to clients, agencies, and the public. + Thorough understanding of project tasks within the overall project schedule, budgeting and available resources. + Provide guidance to influence, mentor and train team members with positive growth-oriented perspective. Qualifications What Will You Need to Succeed? + Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. + Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in design with project management experience a plus. More experienced individuals are encouraged to apply as the responsibilities of the position are flexible based on experience level. + Maine PE or ability to obtain within six months of hire. + Working knowledge of AASHTO and MaineDOT design standards. + Demonstrated proficiency with Microstation and InRoads.
