Purpose/Summary:

The Quality Engineer position is responsible for assuring assigned products meet customer purchase orders, drawings, and specifications regarding the manufacturing of the assigned hardware, perform quality audits, monitoring processes, and ensuring root cause and effective corrective action is implemented.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

Under limited supervision:
Reviews purchase orders, customer specifications and drawings
Works closely with engineers to develop quality plans within manufacturing work instructions, tool gage concepts review and approval, and First Article Inspection plans
Collaborates with the shop and Engineering regarding disposition of non-conforming material, Source Inspection, and SPC analysis where required
Provides flow requirements to suppliers
Gives technical support to the shop
Develops, defines and initiates standards and methods of inspection
Provides support and guidance to inspection, operators and engineering staff to assure compliance to specifications, customer requirements, and regulatory agencies
Works in partnership with Engineering to ensure flow down of key characteristics and to develop effective quality control plans
Reviews travelers for material, special processing requirements, and manufacturability
Drives assigned improvement projects
Flows-down customer requirements to Purchasing
Performs internal audits, root cause analysis, and corrective action system training
Designs and develops inspection fixtures, tools, and gages
Acts as liaison between customer and supplier on quality issues
Assists in review and approval of work instructions
Provides Quality Assurance support of Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) Initiate Initiates and/or approves Quality Plans
Provides training, support, and implementation of Supplier nonconformance investigations
Provides recommendations for improvement
Provides Quality Clinic support
Establishes the sampling plans and over-inspection requirements to fulfill Quality Management System (QMS) requirements
Develops quality plans for quality acceptance of parts
Provides support to Value Stream Mapping process
Performs duties/responsibilities related to this position as assigned by regulatory standards
Supports a team environment; mentors lower level employees
Performs other job related duties as assigned

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skill & Ability:

Working knowledge of Drawings Interpretation and Geometric dimensioning and tolerances (GD&T)
Working knowledge of various machining operations, Quality Assurance systems, calibration and gauging
Solid knowledge of AS9102/eCAV, CID, SPS & Fix Process
Working knowledge of AS9100 Quality Systems requirements Working knowledge of SPC (Statistical Process Control)
Working knowledge of manufacturing techniques
Solid knowledge of root cause analysis and corrective action
Working knowledge of Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing
Proficient in Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Problems solving skills for continuous process improvement to meet business needs
Interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of engineering and technical staff
Ability to define problems, collect data, analyze results, and draw conclusions

Education/Experience:

Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related technical field Two (2) years experience in a manufacturing industry or related industry with quality engineering experience
Prior experience as a Quality Engineering Technician a plus
AS13001 certification a plus

Special Requirements:

Basic PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) is required and provided
