Mission description
Summary:
Safran is looking for a motivated Quality Engineer that will be working closely with our production lines, acting as the lead technical liaison to drive robust correction and improvement to our manufactured parts.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Operations and Inspection personnel to verify suspect conditions and ensure accurate recording of non-conformities.
- Investigate non-conformities by accurately quantifying issues and collecting appropriate evidence for engineering review and supplier feedback.
- Participate on Material Review Boards to decide how non-conforming product should be dispositioned.
- Act as a primary technical liaison between Safran and its Customers to effectively communicate issues and improvements.
- Utilize 8D Problem Solving methodology to drive correction in production processes.
- Develop and improve the effectiveness of Safran’s Quality processes.
- Update and create Quality Inspection Plans to enable capture of emerging issues.
- Development of process control strategies for critical components.
- Internally communicate with Engineering, Purchasing, and Program Management on opportunities for quality improvement.
- Internally escalate potential product/process quality issues and develop solutions to resolve them.
- Work with the Manufacturing and Sustaining Engineers to resolve issues in manufacturing and qualification.
- Regular predictable attendance is required.
- Up to 10% travel, supporting suppliers and associate facilities with product issues and improvements.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Ability to interpret drawing requirements, including use of GD&T. Proficient in engineering change processes.
- Experienced at utilizing industry standards and specifications to verify product and process conformity. Able to navigate through specifications well, isolating pertinent requirements and apply the gained knowledge correctly.
- Experienced in managing Non-Conforming Material and Material Review Board processes in a QMS.
- Expert in leading teams thru structured improvement and problem solving methodologies. Expert in the use of the various tools and sub-processes that ensure success when make improvements and corrections.
- Demonstrated experience in manufacturing processes with respect to 2 or more of these areas: electronic assemblies, complex assemblies, machining, welding, metal and plastic stamping/forming, injection molding technologies, tooling, fixtures and gauges.
- Experienced in performing product audits in one or more of the above areas.
- Experience with an ERP system in a manufacturing environment.
- Expert in the use of basic measurement equipment. Experienced setting-up and programing multiple parts with complex measuring equipment that facilitated automatic inspection, reduced inspection time and improved quality.
- Effective Technical Communicator, both written and oral. Able to succinctly communicate to all levels.
- 7 years of related experience in Quality Engineering or similar role.
- Proficient in the use of Excel (or similar tools) to: analyze measurement data, identify/track trends in event logs, extract data from other sources and develop metrics to track drivers.
- Results oriented with the ability to manage and maintain momentum on a large number of issues and projects concurrently.
- Demonstrated
AS9100/ISO9001
knowledge. Experienced in undergoing audits; being the escort for customers, regulating bodies and third-parties as an auditee.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
- Experience with SAP ERP Software.
- Experience in aerospace industry.
