The Work:
As aSenior Commissioning Engineer , you will support Chinook’s clientsby coordinating, and delivering commissioning services throughoutthe facility planning, design, construction, warranty, andoperations lifecycle. You will apply your technical expertise todeliver solutions to complex problems. In this role you willdeliver on objectives and find unique approaches to assignments. Attimes you will coach more junior staff members and review theirwork. This position offers a career path to a Project Managerand onward to a Program Manager level position. This position isREMOTE, but you must be able to travel to client sites up to 10-20%of the time. The majority of our clients are in the Eastern TimeZone of the United States, especially in North Carolina.
KeyResponsibilities:
- Execute commissioning, energy management andfacilities management services for new and existing buildings onmultiple concurrent projects.
- Understand, analyze and interpretRFPs, design and construction documents, standards, codes, scopes,and project deliverables.
- Prepare commissioning plans,specifications, checklists, functional performance tests, andreports.
- Conduct design reviews, submittal reviews, reviews andfacilitation of training plans, and O&M manual reviews.
- Conduct site observations and witness functional performancetesting.
- Disseminate information both in writing and verbally,explaining complex technical information clearly to engineers,contractors, and facility/owner staff across all communicationplatforms.
- Solve coordination issues impacting equipment, systemsstartup, and testing activities.
- Ensure conformance with theproject requirements, the commissioning plan, and the contractdocuments.
- Attend internal and external project meetings andprepare meeting minutes.
- Review technical reports forcompleteness and accuracy, e.g. start ? up reports, checkoutsheets, and test reports.
- Facilitate transition of systems tooperations and the implementation of maintenance programs.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internalstaff, external team members and clients.
- Provide technical andanalytical guidance to project teams.
- Support the preparation ofbid and proposal documentation.
- Adhere to SOP’s and processeswhile maintaining an exceptional attention to detail.
- Prepareproject estimates, schedules, and work plans.
- Conduct projectreviews and prepare status reports/presentations for the companyand/or client.
- Conduct quality assurance on project deliverablesand project activities.
- Support preparation of invoices andsupporting materials.
- Actively participate in the development ofcompany processes and procedures.
- Attend company meetings,training seminars, and functions.
- Perform other duties asassigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Requires a Bachelor’s Degree inMechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related fieldand at least 8 years of direct experience in commissioning offacilities systems such as lighting, HVAC, power distribution,generation, power monitoring and controls, UPS, and emergencypower.
A High School Diploma and an additional 5 years of directlyrelated experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Must bea Professional Engineer (P.E.)
- CxA, CCP, CBCP, or equivalentCommissioning Certification is required.
- Must have directexperience with ASHRAE Energy Audits and related energyengineering.
- Must be able to initiate action, prioritize tasks,and perform work efficiently within defined budget and schedule.
- Must be proficient in use of the MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word,Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project) and scheduling software.
Citizenship/Clearance Requirements:
- Must be a U.
S. Citizen and beable to obtain and maintain up to a Top Secret clearance due to ourcustomer requirements and the nature of the work that we do.
Preferred Qualifications:
- An Active Secret or higher SecurityClearance.
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM).
- Experience in theintegration of Mechanical systems with electrical, life safety, andsecurity systems.
- Knowledge of LEED requirements and industrystandards and practices i.
e. NFPA, i
EEE, UL, GSA.
- Experience withdatabase management systems for commissioning and core businessprocesses.
Physical Considerations:
- Must be able to walkconstruction sites with uneven surfaces, carry up to 25 lbs., climbstairs and ladders, and work both indoors and outdoors in severeweather conditions, in confined spaces, and in dust generatingenvironments.
- Must be able to maintain spatial awareness andcomply with safety standards while working near mechanical andelectrical building equipment and systems.
- Must be able to wearPersonal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
