Quality Engineer – Intermediate Job Description The 2nd Shift Quality Specialist will support the manufacturing team at an aviation facility in Covington, Georgia. This role involves defining quality processes, managing nonconformities, and ensuring common execution standards are delivered to meet customer requirements. The Quality Engineer will focus on developing and implementing quality processes, problem-solving techniques, and continuous improvement to support line teams and organizations. Responsibilities Develop and implement quality processes and continuous improvement strategies. Utilize problem-solving methods and tools to address and resolve issues. Manage process control plans and monitor quality indicators. Support quality decisions and escalate issues when necessary. Develop and deploy best practices and collaborate with other plants. Support quality meetings and provide detailed data updates. Manage the entire Quality Notification process including opening, processing, and closing notifications. Orientate manufacturing team regarding quality issues and associated risks. Generate and update Quality KPIs and KAIs. Essential Skills Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field. Minimum 3 years of experience in a quality or manufacturing plant environment. In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards. Proficiency in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). Experience with measurement systems, metrology, and basic statistical analysis. Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems. Strong command of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite. Excellent communication skills across all organizational levels, including leadership. Physical ability to stand for extended periods and walk long distances. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in aviation manufacturing or operations. Hands-on approach to problem-solving in dynamic environments. Familiarity with quality tools such as FMEA, 8D, and Six Sigma. Experience supporting cross-site quality initiatives and standardization efforts. Work Environment This position requires 100% onsite work during the 2nd shift from 4:45 PM to 3:20 AM. The role involves working within a dynamic aviation manufacturing environment, where collaboration with various teams is essential. Candidates should be prepared for physical tasks that require standing for extended periods and walking long distances.
