Role:

We are looking for an experienced Manufacturing Quality Engineer who thrives in a high-mix, low-volume production environment, with a proven track record of working with high-tolerance parts in industries such as aerospace, automotive, or custom job shops. In this role, you will be hands-on in driving quality improvements, ensuring compliance with stringent standards, and working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure product excellence at every stage of development and production.

Key Responsibilities:

Maximize product conformance to specified requirements while ensuring manufacturability in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing setting. Perform root cause analysis and drive corrective actions to address non-conforming products (NCP) . Develop and implement quality standards, control plans, and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) techniques. Collaborate with internal teams and customers to resolve compliance requests, quality concerns, and manufacturing challenges. Perform statistical analysis to monitor process performance (SPC, CP, Cpk) and identify opportunities for product and process improvements. Ensure compliance with QMS standards including AS9100, ISO13485, or equivalent processes. Lead and support internal and external audits to ensure strict adherence to quality and regulatory requirements. Develop and maintain technical documentation including quality reports, FMEA, control plans, and other key quality assurance documents. Champion continuous improvement initiatives, using Kaizen and Six Sigma methodologies, to enhance manufacturing processes and reduce waste.

Required Experience:

3+ years of experience in quality engineering within the aerospace , automotive , or custom job shop industries. Proven experience in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment, managing high-precision and high-tolerance parts. Strong background in root cause analysis , 8D problem-solving methodology, and non-conformance management . Extensive experience with quality tools (FMEA, APQP, DFMEA, PFMEA, SPC, CpK, GD&T) and statistical process control (SPC) . Hands-on experience with

ISO 9001 , AS9100

, or equivalent QMS standards. Knowledge of aerospace-specific quality systems (AS9100) is a plus. Experience in a job shop environment , dealing with small-batch, complex parts, and demanding customer requirements. Technical skills in reading and understanding engineering drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) . Effective communication skills , both written and verbal, for collaboration with engineering teams, suppliers, and customers.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering , Mechanical Engineering , Industrial Engineering , or a related field (or equivalent experience). Why Join MSI?
