Wieland is hiring a Quality Engineer. The Quality Engineer is a key contributor to ensuring compliance with quality standards in our cold plate large volume and aerospace manufacturing environment. This role focuses on quality inspection, testing, and calibration processes while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining proper documentation. The Quality Engineer works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to uphold product integrity and customer satisfaction. This role is located in Pine Hall, NC and will be fully on-site.

Responsibilities Quality Engineer Responsibilities:

SHE Priority
a. Promote a culture of safety excellence by adhering to and reinforcing Safety, Health, and environmental standards.
Quality Inspection
a. Perform detailed quality inspections using tools such as Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), helium leak testers, flow tests, pressure testers, and digital microscopes.
Metrology & Calibration
a. Manage and calibrate gauges and measurement tools to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Automotive Compliance
a. Leverage automotive industry knowledge to meet and exceed customer quality standards, including adherence to PFMEA, PPAP, Control and Inspection Plans, and Gage R&R requirements.
Documentation & Reporting
a. Write and maintain work instructions, SOPs, and inspection reports.
b. Utilize computer systems such as Pro Shop, and SAP to document quality data, generate reports, and track corrective actions.
Problem Solving
a. Support root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for quality issues.
b. Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives using LEAN methodologies.
Testing & Validation
a. Conduct testing and validation processes, including helium leak detection, flow testing, and pressure testing.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
a. Partner with Production, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to troubleshoot quality-related challenges and implement solutions.

Quality Engineer Qualifications:

This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and the ability to access and handle ITAR “Technical Data” as defined by 22 CFR § 120.33 is an essential function
Education & Experience
a. BS in Material Science or Engineering or equivalent experience in Aerospace Industry.
b. Technical certifications or further education.
c. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a quality role within the automotive industry (mandatory).
d. Experience in a machine shop environment is a plus.
Technical Skills
a. Proficient on programming CMMs.
b. Experience on operating testing equipment such as CMMs, helium leak testers, pressure testers, and digital microscopes.
c. Knowledge of PFMEA, PPAP, and Gage R&R processes.
Metrology Expertise
a. Hands-on experience with gauge calibration and metrology principles.
Software Proficiency
a. Skilled in using computer systems such as Pro Shop or SAP, as well as MS Office.
Documentation Skills
a. Demonstrated ability to create clear and concise SOPs, Work Instructions, and quality reports.
Personal Attributes
a. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
