Summary Direct leadership for a paper machine line operation.
This position will have overall responsibility for the safety,quality, productivity, cost, training, and environmental aspects ofthe line with an emphasis on maximizing profitability of the line.
Integrating people, processes, and products come together at thislevel. Essential Duties and Specific Responsibilities Observeemployee and equipment performance daily with emphasis onelimination of unsafe acts and hazards Engage operators throughensuring strong training systems, troubleshooting guides, standardoperating procedures, operator basic care rounds, and processcapable quality systems Drive improvement in safety, customerquality, productivity, and cost reduction performance Improveoperations by identifying and leading problem solving and projectimplementation efforts Build and monitor performance to budgets andproductivity standards Scrutinize paper quality to ensure productmeets customers’ needs and assist in proper disposition of productwith an emphasis on building real-time disposition systems Monitorequipment availability and performance working closely with supportareas to plan equipment repairs and developing preventativemaintenance and reliability programs Investigate, recommend, andimplement new equipment and procedures to ensure world-classperformance and best practice compliance Effectively work withsuppliers and service groups to support and improve operationsQualifications Experience
- 5 to 8 years of experience in papermanufacturing with production/process engineering and supervisoryexperience OR any equivalent combination of education, training,and experience. Competencies
- Strong skills in process informationsystems (PI, DCS, Excel, etc.). Experience with web inspection andbreak detection systems a plus. Education
- Bachelor’s degree inpulp and paper, engineering, or related technical area.
