Water Resources Engineer Job Description We are actively seeking to expand our Water Resources Group with a talented civil engineer. You will play a key role in various civil engineering and water resources projects, with the flexibility to design and build solutions that impact ecosystems, watersheds, and communities. Initial assignment will be on site in Cutler Bay, supporting Engineering During Construction (EDC) services for a large civil water resources project related to the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan. After this project, you may support other EDC or CMS projects or get involved in engineering and design of similar projects. Responsibilities Focus on large environmental restoration projects including embankment systems, levees, reservoirs, pump stations, stream channel restoration, wetland and lake restoration, watershed issues, and stormwater collection systems. Apply various design engineering and modeling techniques in developing water resource and heavy civil projects for state and local municipalities. Perform complex engineering analyses and design calculations. Prepare design drawings, construction specifications, cost estimates, construction bid packages, technical memoranda, and reports. Support and direct hydraulic and hydrology modeling, data collection, data assimilation, and presentations. Communicate with clients, generate new business opportunities, manage subconsultants, and manage staff as needed. Essential Skills Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Water Resources. A Master’s degree is preferred. PE license in Florida is preferred; licenses in other states are desirable. 4+ years of related consulting engineering experience. Experience with standard hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM, ICPR). Experience developing design and bid packages including design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates. Professional-level verbal and written communication skills. Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with SFWMD is a plus. Experience with InfraWorks, Civil 3D, GIS, standard hydrologic data analysis software, and sediment transport modeling preferred. Knowledge of environmental planning, permitting, and regulations. Leadership and business development talents are a plus. High level of personal integrity with a strong work ethic. An attitude and commitment to exceptional work, energizing staff, and delivering responsive service to clients. Work Environment This is a full-time position in a project mobile office environment. Upon completion of the initial project, you can move to another project site or work from home supporting engineering and design.
