Job Description:

We’re seeking an experienced water resources engineer to join our team. If you are passionate about the preservation of natural systems combined with diving into hydrologic and hydraulic models, this might be the perfect fit for you. You’ll also get to work with our Water Resources Discipline on planning, designing, and permitting water resource components for critical infrastructure, development and environmental preservation projects. Typical projects involve coordination with the USACE, FEMA, water management districts and local regulatory agencies to meet water quality, flood mitigation and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic model studies for various water resources projects. Analyze hydrologic and hydraulic models for stormwater and master drainage planning. Work on stream restoration and water quality enhancement projects. Tackle permitting and stormwater management challenges specific to new and rehabilitated infrastructure across the U.S. Design and permit stormwater management systems, including collection and conveyance systems, channel and stream modifications, detention design, culvert and bridge hydraulics, floodplain impact studies, and stormwater management facilities. Use H&H software for permitting and design of infrastructure projects. Update stormwater models to support stormwater master plans. Prepare documentation and coordinate permit applications. Design and permit fish passage (AOP) structures. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality project documents. Work closely with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with all stormwater regulations.

Required Skills & Experience:

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in water resources engineering; . Knowledge of floodplain delineation, stormwater management, culvert and bridge hydraulics, and drainage design. Strong interest in hydrologic and hydraulic analyses. Professional licensure (PE) or ability to obtain one within 6 months. Excellent communication and project management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in MS Office software. Familiarity with federal regulations and design criteria a plus.

Preferred Software Experience:

AutoDesk (Civil 3D, SSA, Hydraflow) Microstation (ORD/Geopak Drainage) ArcGIS (for H&H modeling, DEM conditioning/modification, basin delineation, etc.)

H&H Modeling:
SRH-2D, HEC-RAS

(1D and 2D), HEC-HMS, ICPR, SWMM, and similar.
