Engineering Associate – Water Resources – 634095

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Water Resources Engineer with 2-5 years of relevant experience to support a growing water resources team based in Raleigh, NC. This role involves applying civil, environmental, and water resources engineering principles to a range of public and private sector projects. You’ll work closely with an experienced practice leader who offers strong mentorship and technical guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and evaluations for various infrastructure and planning projects. Use GIS tools and applications for hydrologic analysis and data visualization. Perform stormwater analyses and calculations using industry-standard software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, Arc

GIS, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM

). Design storm drainage systems, including storm sewers, culverts, open channels, inlets, and detention facilities. Assist in the preparation of capital improvement plans and watershed management studies. Coordinate with local and state regulatory agencies and respond to plan review comments. Support the development of erosion and sediment control plans and stormwater management facilities. Prepare nutrient management and pollutant loading calculations as needed. Contribute to riverine floodplain analyses and FEMA-related mapping and permitting efforts (e.g., No-Rise Certifications, CLOMR/LOMR applications). Produce construction drawings, technical specifications, and cost estimates. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance within the Water Resources Team. Develop technical documentation, including reports and memos, that clearly outline methodologies, assumptions, and findings.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline (highly preferred). 2-5 years of relevant water resources or stormwater engineering experience; co-op, internship, or research experience may be considered toward this. EI (Engineer Intern) certification preferred. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and SWMM strongly desired. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines. Why Join Us?
