Who are we looking for?
The Rock Hill, SC facility is looking for a Chemical Engineer who will play a pivotal role in optimizing wastewater treatment processes, with a primary focus on plating industry wastewater. This individual will be responsible for analyzing chemical treatments, optimizing processes, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemical engineering, plating processes, and laboratory analysis to support the development and implementation of effective wastewater solutions.
What will you be doing?
Plating Wastewater Treatment:
Design, optimize, and monitor chemical treatments for wastewater generated by electroplating processes.
Develop solutions for metal recovery, pH control, heavy metal removal, and other contaminant management.
Ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory standards related to plating wastewater treatment.
Analytical Support:
Perform chemical analysis to assess the quality of wastewater and identify contaminants.
Utilize laboratory equipment (e.g., AA, titration, pH meters, etc.) to monitor and assess chemical treatments.
Conduct root cause analysis on water treatment failures and implement corrective actions.
Process Improvement:
Lead the development of process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and lower operating costs.
Provide technical expertise on chemical treatment methods, including chemical dosing, filtration, and neutralization.
Work with cross-functional teams to evaluate new technologies and integrate them into existing systems.
Project Management & Collaboration:
Manage projects related to wastewater treatment process improvements, chemical feed systems, and equipment upgrades.
Collaborate with operations, environmental, and health & safety teams to implement best practices.
Who are You?
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the plating industry or wastewater treatment, with a focus on chemical processes and analysis.
Strong understanding of plating industry processes (e.g., electroplating, metal finishing) and associated wastewater management challenges.
Experience in using analytical instruments for water quality analysis.
Knowledge of industry standards and environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, OSHA).
What competencies will you need?
Ability to work in a laboratory and field environment.
Proficient in MS Office and engineering software tools (e.g., process simulation software).
Understanding of safety protocols and handling hazardous materials.
Expertise in chemical treatment methods for wastewater, including precipitation, flocculation, and chemical oxidation.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Project management experience is a plus.
