Job Description
Accountant 4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars Birmingham, AL 35211 The Accountant performs accounting functions including, but not limited to, analyzing diverse and complex information for timely and accurate reporting to support decision-making by management. The role ensures compliance with regulatory agencies, audit requirements, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). It involves developing and maintaining systems and internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial data. The Accountant also supervises clerical staff, manages projects, controls cash receipts and disbursements, files tax returns, ensures timely and accurate payrolls, manages vendor and customer relationships, and oversees the application of cash to customer accounts.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must exhibit a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited four-year college or university. Proof of degree required. A transcript or diploma would be acceptable and must be provided. Must exhibit the ability to simultaneously work on multiple, diverse tasks and make adjustments to priorities in order to conform to a dynamic work environment. Must exhibit the ability to assume responsibility for an assigned area of accounting work and be able to supervise or assist other personnel in daily or monthly tasks. Must exhibit the ability to help formulate systems and procedures to be used in accounting and be able to communicate this to others. Must exhibit high work standards and attention to detail. Must exhibit the ability to work with confidential information and maintain confidentiality. Must be able to work overtime on weekdays and/or weekends as required to fulfill job duties. Subject to departmental transfer to other Accountant positions within the Finance Division.
Preferred Qualifications:
Four (4) or more years of professional level accounting experience in a job such as accountant or auditor. Exhibit a thorough knowledge of

manufacturing processes and products, or similar processes and products. Advanced ability to work with computer spreadsheets and word processing software such as Excel, Word, and other programs used in analysis and special projects. Exhibit a master’s degree in Accounting from an accredited four-year college or university. Proof of degree required. A transcript or diploma would be acceptable and must be provided. Exhibit a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification. Prior experience using JD Edwards, Bottomline, Hubble, Infinium, Business Intelligence, or ASI software. Exhibit basic management skills.
