Boulo Solutions is partnering with a well-established and fast-growing personal injury law firm located in Birmingham, Alabama. Known for our commitment to client service and legal excellence, we pride ourselves on a strong team-oriented culture and a drive for results. We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Lead Accountant to oversee our accounting department and manage a team of three.
Position Overview:
The Lead Accountant will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of the firm. This position is responsible for leading all accounting functions including financial reporting, budgeting, trust accounting, payroll coordination, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in accounting and leadership, preferably with experience in the legal or professional services sector. They will work with a third party Accounting firm to asisst in higher level accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and lead a team of three accounting professionals Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis Reconcile bank statements and manage cash flow Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes Coordinate with external CPA for audits and tax filings Improve accounting processes and systems for efficiency and accuracy Provide financial insights and reports to firm leadership for strategic decision-making Supervise payroll processing and benefits reporting
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role Prior experience in a law firm or professional services environment is highly desirable Strong understanding of trust accounting and legal billing practices Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks, Clio, or similar)(The firm currently uses Quickbooks but looking into a new more cloud based system) Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills High attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information with integrity
