Job Description
Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Birmingham, Alabama. In this role, you will oversee key accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and month-end close processes. This position offers a collaborative and flexible work environment within the commercial real estate industry.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant standards.
- Prepare and post journal entries to support the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Oversee accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies as needed.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
- Collaborate with the Controller to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
- Monitor and maintain accurate records for all balance sheet reconciliations.
- Utilize accounting software, such as AppFolio, to manage financial data effectively.
- Support audits by providing necessary documentation and responses to inquiries. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, demonstrating attention to detail and corporate exposure.
- Proficiency in general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and month-end close procedures.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other financial tools.
- Experience with accounting software platforms, such as AppFolio, is a plus.
- Familiarity with accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Previous experience in the real estate industry is preferred but not mandatory.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
