Job Description

Staff Accountant
Overview

SUMMARY:

The Staff Accountant reports to the Assistant Controller and is responsible for preparing and maintaining financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

None.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in documentation of workflow, procedures, checklists, and policies for assigned areas of responsibility.
Assist in preparation of periodic internal operating and financial reporting.
Assist in preparation for annual external audits requests and support. Assist in creating and reviewing the controls needed for data accumulation and reporting systems.
Create, monitor, and post accruals and other recurring periodic journal entries and reconciliations.
Perform accounting closing duties, including sub ledger account & general ledger reconciliations.
As needed, develop, maintain, and distribute ad-hoc reports and financial models.
Act as liaison between accounting department and third-party accounting firm for indirect tax.
Liaison between the accounting and operations team to ensure permits for new and existing warehouse locations are in compliance and current.
Reconcile property tax and business license payments to support documentation.
Obtain executed lease agreements and maintain lease schedules in Lease Query.
Assist accounts payable department as needed.
All other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum bachelor’s degree in accounting (or another related discipline). Minimum 2-3 years of experience with GAAP financial reporting, consolidation, and financial analysis. Solid communication and interpersonal skills, including presentation skills and building diplomatic relationships with all employees at any level, including leadership/supervisory skills. Results focused with an analytical approach to problem solving. Proven experience excelling in a fast-paced environment, handling pressure and being self-motivated to maintain organization and prioritize work, ensuring deadlines are met. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify best case solutions. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft suite and systems. The ability to successfully complete the pre-employment process.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in food & beverage distribution or manufacturing industry a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, typing, reading, talking, and hearing. The ability to lift up to 10 pounds with or without assistance.
