No Job Summary The person selected for this position will assist the Biosystems Engineering department head, faculty, and staff in managing all financial aspects of the department in a cost effective manner. Essential Functions Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: Manage day-to-day financial operations of the department and advise department head and faculty on a variety of financial matters related to teaching, research, extension, and outreach; assist the department head with strategic planning for departmental budgets and financial matters; assist faculty with development of extramural funding proposal budgets and assist faculty and administrators with financial management and review of externally-funded contracts and grants; prepare, edit, review, and publish financial statements/documents and reports including forecasts, budgets, budget compliance, and analysis of accounts with multi-users; audit/review financial records; monitor salaries/wages to ensure compliance with budgets and that accounts are being properly expended; serve as Liaison between biosystems engineering department and the University Business Office/other units; prepare Collection Reports, Journal Vouchers, Travel vouchers, and Vendor Vouchers for multiple users; review and update rates for service centers; assist the Contracts & Grants Specialists for the College of Agriculture and the Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station; and perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience:
Level I:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Finance, or a similar degree plus a CPA with no experience.

Level II:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Finance, or a similar degree plus a CPA plus 2 years of experience. Experience must include at least 2 years at the preceding level or equivalent

Level III:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Finance, or a similar degree plus a CPA plus 4 years of experience. Experience must include at least 2 years at the preceding level or equivalent •Substitutions allowed for

Experience:

When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience. Minimum Skills and Abilities Excellent interpersonal communication skills, ability to organize, prioritize work, and handle multiple tasks.
Demonstrated knowledge of financial management.
Ability to successfully work both independently and in a team environment.
In addition, the candidate must be able to build and maintain positive relationships with others in administrative offices across campus. Minimum Technology Skills Proficiency with various spreadsheets and database programs such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. Desired Qualifications CPA and/or Masters of Accountancy
Knowledge and experience with Auburn University financial reporting systems, budget, contract and grant operations, policies and procedures
