Senior Cost Accountant Best Veterinary Solutions, Inc. Siloam Springs, AR 72761 Best Veterinary Solutions, Inc., has an immediate opening for a Senior Cost Accountant within our finance team. In this position you will oversee cost accounting and margin analysis for an animal health company with a diverse business model. The Senior Cost Accountant will report to the Director of Finance and collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide actionable insights, drive efficiency, and support strategic decision-making. This position can be based in our Corporate Office in Ellsworth, Iowa or our new facility in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Key Responsibilities:

Take ownership of cost accounting processes for finished goods and distributed products, ensuring accurate product costing and inventory valuation. Maintain and improve standard cost structure; collaborate with manufacturing on work center setup, BOM and routing accuracy. Work alongside manufacturing and sales team to develop and maintain standard cost estimates for new and updated products; support accurate quoting and margin planning. Support Fusion Feed Ingredients by entering and maintaining accurate BOMs and routings in Sage X3, ensuring data integrity to enable reliable costing and production planning. Review production cost accounting details, correct variances and support accurate entry of production data in the Sage X3 system. Conduct detailed margin analysis across service, distribution, and manufacturing segments to identify trends and improvement opportunities. Prepare detailed variance analysis for manufactured and distributed products to identify issues impacting margin. Work closely with sales and leadership to evaluate profitability by product class and market segments; provide accurate cost data and help suggest pricing and target margins. Run cost scenarios to see impact of price changes or input costs and their affect on overall margin. Analyze freight costs and absorbed freight costs to understand impact on overall profitability and recommend optimization strategies. Work closely with supply chain and logistics teams to improve freight expense and freight variances as applied to COGS. Assist in the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes, ensuring accuracy and alignment with business objectives. Develop and maintain financial models to support business decisions related to service, distribution, and manufacturing operations. Prepare presentations and reports for senior leadership and external stakeholders. Implement process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of cost and margin activities. Other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

Due to the nature of business, must consent to and have the ability to pass a pre-employment and annual Federal level background check and MVR. Strong knowledge of financial modeling, forecasting techniques, and variance analysis. Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) and advanced Excel modeling skills. Experience with Sage X3, Sage Enterprise Intelligence (SEI), or similar ERP and BI tools such as Power BI that support data analysis and cost visibility is preferred. Strong analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment. Must maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to strict confidentiality policies and procedures.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (MBA or CPA preferred). 5+ years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis, preferably in a multi-segment environment. Experience working in both service and manufacturing industries; animal health or life sciences experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting driving or at a desk and working on a computer. The ability to working with and around industrial hazards. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Ability to travel by car or plane on an as needed basis.
