Description:
Johnson Regional Medical Center is seeking an Accountant. This position is Full-Time, Monday through Friday. Healthcare experience is preferred but not required.
Job Summary:
Balances and posts daily worksheets to the general ledger system. Reconciles the cash and EFT account, among other various accounts. Assists with carrying out various duties of the Accounting Office. Demonstrates Competency in the
Following Areas:
Balances and posts daily worksheets to the general ledger.
Reconciles the following accounts:
Cash Account, EFT Account, Unapplied Cash Account, Self-Insurance Account, FSA Account, All CD Accounts, 01.2700.0001, 01.2700.0000, Interest Bearing, Cafeteria Account, Payroll Account, and Prepaid Accounts. Posts Clinic Revenue received from MOS. Posts Interdepartmental Charges. Assists the Accounting Manager with Unclaimed Property. Assists the Accounting Manager to prepare for the yearly audit and cost report. Ensures the Accounting Department is in compliance with hospital policies and procedures. Authorizes and supervises the issuance of electronic payments to non-employee individuals who work for Johnson Regional Medical Center. Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with other departments.

Meets dress code standards; appearance is neat and clean. Completes annual educational requirements. Maintains regulatory requirements. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Reports to work on time and as scheduled. Wears identification while on duty. Participates on various hospital committees as requested. Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments and staff. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner. Attends committee, CQI and management meetings, as appropriate. Resolves staff concerns at the departmental level, utilizing the grievance process as required. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire safety, emergency management and infection prevention and control. Effectively and consistently communicates administrative directive to staff and encourages interactive departmental meetings and discussions.
Requirements:
Regulatory Requirements:
Bachelors of Science Degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred. Preferred two to five years’ experience in accounting, preferably in a hospital setting.
Language Skills:
Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred.
Skills:
Excellent computer knowledge. Experience in use of Microsoft Excel, etc.
Physical Demands:
Normal hospital environment. Close eye work. Hearing within normal range. Oral communication. Operates 10-key calculator, typewriter, telephone, PC. Continuous sitting. Occasional walking and bending. May lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
