Job Description

Description We are looking for an experienced Corporate Tax Staff Accountant to join our team on a Contract to permanent basis in Branford, Connecticut. In this role, you will focus on managing tax-related tasks, ensuring compliance, and handling various accounting functions for a mid-sized private firm. This position offers an excellent opportunity to apply your expertise in corporate tax and accounting software systems while contributing to the organization’s financial operations.

Responsibilities:

+ Oversee general accounting duties, with a focus on tax preparation and compliance. + Support clients in financial statement preparation and general financial advisory services. + Assist with audits, when necessary, but with tax as primary expertise. + Prepare 1099s, payroll tax filings, and sales tax filings for clients. + Utilize QuickBooks Online for client financials, reconciliations, and reporting. + Collaborate with clients to ensure accurate and timely financial records.

Requirements:

+ Recent public accounting with prior experience in tax and accounting services. + Strong generalist background, with an emphasis on tax knowledge. + Excellent organizational and communication skills. + Strong attention to detail and ability to communicate effectively with clients. Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate tax accounting or a related field.
  • Proficiency in accounting software systems, including QuickBooks and CCH ProSystem fx.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll tax reporting, sales tax returns, and Form 1099 preparation.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Access for financial data management and analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex tax preparation tasks with accuracy.
  • Knowledge of applicable tax laws and regulations at federal, state, and local levels.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline preferred.
