WHAT YOU’LL DO
This is a full-time, temporary assignment that is currently slated for 3 months. Our Finance team loves digging into the details to drive profitability while providing excellent customer service. We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to join our finance team. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy of product costing, inventory valuation, and cost variance analysis, with a strong focus on leveraging Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) for cost structure configuration and reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing or product-based environments and a deep understanding of cost accounting principles within ERP systems.

Base Salary:
$73,000
- $90,000
Note:
New hires typically receive between minimum and midpoint, however, we may go slightly higher based on experience, internal equity and market. Ensure accurate product costing and inventory valuation, maintaining data integrity in D365. Perform detailed variance analysis, identifying and explaining differences between actual and standard/target costs. Support month-end close processes by preparing and distributing detailed cost reports to finance and operations. Develop and maintain target costs for all products; monitor actual costs and identify deviations. Collaborate with operations and procurement to identify cost-saving opportunities and support margin improvement initiatives. Provide cost justification and detailed analysis for product cost increases or changes. Deliver regular reporting to management on cost changes, cost drivers, and profitability insights. Establish, document, and maintain cost accounting policies and procedures within D365. Train cross-functional teams (e.g., supply chain, manufacturing, and finance) on cost-related processes and tools within D365. Complete other responsibilities as assigned. Map and validate cost structures in D365 configuration, ensuring alignment with operational and financial workflows.
WHAT YOU BRING
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to communicate complex financial data clearly and concisely across departments. 3+ years of experience in cost accounting, ideally in a manufacturing or inventory-intensive environment. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, CMA, or MBA is a plus. Proven experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365) or similar ERP systems. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel). Power-user in Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables) and experience with data visualization/reporting tools are preferred. Great with PowerPoint, building professional, on-brand presentations. Ability to accommodate a flexible schedule, occasionally working evenings and weekends for special assignments or month-end close. Rain Makers are people who are accountable, curious, and inclusive.
